About us
A family affair
It began with a simple idea: to create quality leads and collars that feel good in your hands and last for years As a dog trainer at Urban Dogs HQ in Brunswick, Katia had tried all sorts of dog leads and collars—but she kept coming back to the classic strength and durability of leather. Still, she had very specific ideas about design, fit, and functionality, and couldn’t find someone making exactly what she was looking for.
So Poppy decided to give leathercraft a go in his little workshop in Pascoe Vale, and found that he quite liked his new hobby.
Because creativity is contagious, Nanna also got inspired and began knitting a delightful collection of knitted goods for dogs and humans alike.
We sell our handcrafted products online, in the Urban Dogs HQ shop, and once a month at the Lygon Street Market.

We have standard leads and collars available for dogs of all sizes. Each one is made of quality leather.
There are a variety of colours, widths, and lengths, and even a few matching sets of standard leads with buckle collars.
Our buckle collars come in all shapes, sizes, and colours, and we’ve got a few traffic handles for those moments when you just need to grab onto something.

We offer a variety of handmade leather dog leads and collars of different styles. Each type is designed to cater to different needs and preferences, ensuring a perfect fit for every dog owner.

Yes, we have different leads and collars for small breeds to large breeds. We ensure that each lead provides the necessary strength and comfort for your pet.
Do you make custom leads or collars to order?
Yes we do! Chat to us about what you’d like and we’ll organise something just for you and your dog.
How do I clean my lead or collar?
To clean your dog lead, simply wipe it down with a damp cloth.
The leather will get softer & more
supple with use. The hardware will develop a patina over time and may change colour slightly. It can be cleaned with any metal cleaner.
If the leather is exposed to harsh conditions, apply a leather conditioner.
What materials do you use?
Our dog leads are hand crafted from the best leather we can find. The leather is selected for strength and durability, ensuring a reliable product for your pet’s needs. Depending on the lead, we use brass or plated hardware, along with copper rivets.

Orders can be picked up in person at the Urban Dogs HQ shop, which is open on Saturdays and at limited times throughout the week (see Hours). Contact us for postage enquiries.
